Our 2AA Rosette restaurant is open for dinner every evening from Easter to the end of September. A short a la carte and a fixed price three course menu are available. For restaurant reservations please telephone 01397 722246 or e-mail dine@glenfinnan.co.uk
The Stage House Lounge bar is open for meals every evening. Light lunches are also served from Easter to the end of September.
The restaurant occupies one of the original parts of this charming old coaching inn with its wood panelling and paintings by Scottish and European artists. The menus offered here are a short seasonal a la carte and a fixed price three course menu.
We make extensive use of home-grown seasonal ingredients with venison from the surrounding hills, fish and shellfish from the boats at Mallaig, fruit and vegetables from a small scale local grower and some of the finest beef and lamb available.
The best quality produce, imaginative flavour combinations and simple presentation are the cornerstones of our food. Warmth, good humour and friendliness are those of our hospitality.
In recognition of our commitment to using local produce, and the quality of the resulting dishes we have been awarded the prestigious Thistle Award “Flavour of Scotland”, the Highlands and Islands Dining Out Award. Our restaurant currently has 2 AA Rosettes and the Silver award from EatScotland.
The art of refreshment …..
The Stage House Lounge bar is a spacious room with a vaulted, pine clad ceiling overlooking the burn running adjacent to the hotel. Light, airy and comfortable it is the ideal place for more casual dining or just to relax and enjoy a drink.
Premium draught beers, a range of Scottish bottled beers, an extensive wine list and an excellent selection of malt whiskies and brandies are there for your enjoyment. For those seeking non-alcoholic beverages we offer a wide range of soft drinks and have a traditional espresso machine for morning, afternoon and after dinner coffee or tea.
The Stage House Lounge bar offers an extensive blackboard menu using the same high quality local seasonal produce. Featuring perennial favourites such as Mallaig haddock, Moidart venison casserole, simply grilled meats, poultry and fish. We make all of our own soups, terrines, hot-smoked salmon and duck, we cure our own herring, bake our own bread daily and make our own ice creams and desserts.
We are fortunate to be situated in an area of outstanding beauty with such a rich, natural larder in the sea, hills and lochs of the West Highlands.
Starting on our own doorstep we find wild mushrooms, brambles, rowan berries, herbs and edible flowers. We seek out the best local produce and build our menus around them.
Our venison comes from the hills of Glenfinnan and Moidart, furred and feathered game from other Highland estates. Scotland produces some of the finest beef and hill lamb in the world and we also use pork from a free range rare breed herd farmed in the Highlands.
Our fresh fish and shellfish come from Andy Race in Mallaig, who also supplies us with smoked fish and seasonal sea herbs.
Some of our fruit, vegetables and salads come from a small scale organic grower a few hundred yards from the hotel. This is supplemented by produce from the markets of Glasgow and London through our local greengrocer.
Scotland is a leading producer of dairy products with first class milk, cream, butter and a superb range of artisan cheeses. Our suppliers in Glasgow and Ayrshire provide us with a variety of soft, blue and aged cheeses for the restaurant and bar menus.
Wherever possible local suppliers will be our first choice.
We believe, both personally and as a business, in buying and employing locally in order to support the local economy.
Our over-riding priority is, however, quality. We will not use an ingredient simply because it is produced locally, nor will we reject an ingredient simply because it is not.
The video below was filmed after our restaurant won the Dining Out award at the Highlands and Islands Tourism Awards.
