The historic nature of the hotel, and its Scottish Highland setting gives an individual character to our bedrooms. All of our rooms have en-suite facilities, some with bath and over-shower, some with shower only. They also have satellite television, direct dial telephone, hairdryer and hospitality tray – please note that all bedrooms are designated non-smoking.

Originally a coaching inn called The Stage House, the hotel was built as a “change house” to provide shelter and a change of horse for travellers on “The Road to the Isles”. The oldest part of the building dates back to the seventeenth century, at that time the inn would have been very basic with one large room upstairs, straw for bedding and a fireplace at either end for warmth.

Over the years the hotel has gradually expanded and now has nine en-suite bedrooms, all with coombed ceilings and some have dormer windows in the traditional Highland style. The rooms, all arranged over the first floor in a slightly quirky layout, are a mix of superior and standard double and twin bedrooms, one single bedroom and one four poster bedroom.

All of our bedrooms have en-suite facilities, superior rooms are more spacious and some are located at the front of the hotel. Standard rooms, whilst having the same facilities, are smaller and located at the side and rear of the hotel.

Our single room is to the front of the hotel and has a box bay window overlooking the hills. This room has a connecting door to the adjacent superior double room, an ideal combination for families with younger children. An extra child’s bed can be added to the single room. For families with older children we have adjacent double and twin rooms.

Our finest bedroom is The Stuart Room, pictured here. This charming and spacious room, with its Jacobean four poster bed, is situated in the oldest part of the building at the front of the hotel with a fine view of the hills. This room comes with many extras including luxury bathrobes, sherry decanter, chocolates, fresh flowers and mineral water. The Stuart Room is usually in great demand for special occasions such as anniversaries and birthdays so early booking is recommended.

Don’t forget you can order Champagne to be waiting on ice for you on arrival too!

We welcome well behaved dogs in the hotel. Guests that wish to keep their dog in their bedroom will be allocated a standard room, one of which is shown here. Please note that dogs are welcome in the bar area but are not permitted in the restaurant (guide dogs excepted).

In accordance with current Scottish legislation, smoking is not permitted anywhere within the hotel building. There is an area designated to the side of the hotel for those who wish to smoke, umbrellas are available when it’s raining and midge repellent (not guaranteed!) is available for when the beasts are about.
